What is Better Drive?

Better Drive is a free tool to analyze your Google Drive account. Google Drive is a powerful file storage and synchronization service, but sometimes you feel like you lose control of it. Keeping privacy concerns that many users have, we built this great tool to help you organize, clean, and leverage the use of your Google Drive account.

Can Better Drive see, download or delete my Google Drive files?

No. We only ask for reading permissions on your Google Drive account. You will see a prompt window like this:

That means you authorize Better Drive to access only your folders and files information. It's important to highlight that we are not allowed to see or download your content, neither create, modify, or delete anything in your Google Drive account. Google Drive will block any operation you have not authorized us to do.

How can I delete all my information from Better Drive?

You can do that, by using the button “Clear data” in the scan result screen. As data cleaning can take a while we will send you an email as soon as the process is finished. We are going to clean the information after 24hs anyway. Expect an email from us notifying you that the cleaning is completed.

How can I remove my Google Drive access to Better Drive?

When you click the button “Clear data” or after 24hs, we remove your information. Including your access credentials from Google Drive. However, you still can go further and remove our access directly from your Google Account. You can manage your third-party apps with account access, directly in your Google account in this link: https://myaccount.google.com/permissions. There, you could find our app and remove the access.

That means that you only authorize Google, to give us access just to list your folders and files information. We are not allowed to see or download your content. Neither we are allowed to create, change, or delete anything in your Google Drive account. Google Drive will block any operation you have not authorized us to do so.

Troubleshooting 🔧

My scan is taking a lot of time. What can I do?

The scan time can vary depending on the number of files and folders in your Google Drive account. To avoid waiting until the scan finished, we will send you an email notifying you the scan is completed.

I’m having an error or I don’t understand something, what can I do?

You can send us an email at [email protected]. We will get you back as soon as we can. Bear in mind that your email can help us to improve this tool used by many people.
